Carbon ThreeSixty is a turnkey provider for the design, development and manufacture of highly challenging, advanced composite structures.  A valued partner in the delivery of innovation, engineering and manufacturing services to the Aerospace, Automotive, Energy, Electric Motor, Defence, Medical, Industrial and associated sectors, today announced the appointment of Andy Smith to its Board of Directors, effective 20/02/2025.

Andy Smith is a highly respected figure in the composites industry with over 20 years of experience. He currently serves as R&D Director at Carbon ThreeSixty, overseeing strategic R&D and capability programmes. Recent achievements include successfully landing substantial and strategic grant funded projects via the UK’s Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC) in addition to similar awards from the Aerospace Technology Institute (ATI). During the same period Andy has overseen the delivery of several key manufacturing technologies including one of the most advanced filament winding capabilities in the country and rapid advances in Carbon ThreeSixty’s Resin Transfer Moulding (RTM) capability. Prior to this, Andy held various roles within Carbon ThreeSixty, starting as a Senior Engineer and progressing up to Engineering Manager. Before joining Carbon ThreeSixty Andy served as Technical Lead for The University of Sheffield’s Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC), where he was instrumental in the set up of the composites capability/facility along with managing teams through various complex projects. Andy was pivotal in securing and delivering both privately funded and grant funded programmes.

Andy’s exceptional contributions to the company, particularly as R&D Director, have been invaluable.  His strategic vision, deep technical expertise, and commitment to innovation have been instrumental in driving our success and shaping our future.  We believe that his insights and leadership will be a tremendous asset to the Board. We are thrilled to welcome Andy Smith to our Board of Directors,” said Will Battrick, CTO and Co-Founder.

“I am honored and excited to formally  join the Board of Directors of Carbon ThreeSixty,” said Andy Smith. “Carbon ThreeSixty is experiencing its next phase of growth. When I joined the business as a Senior Engineer we were a small team of 7, mainly focused on R&D projects. Fast forward 5 years and we’re a team of 40 in a 44,000 sqft facility delivering R&D and series manufacturing projects to some of the world best known Aerospace, Automotive and Energy companies. The day to day challenges have changed but the focus on innovative R&D remains a key part of the business strategy.” Andy Smith holds a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Sheffield in addition to 20+ years of cutting edge composites design and manufacturing experience.
